Wood-fired sauna stoves from Finnish, Estonian and other makers, for cabins, backyard saunas and off-grid builds.
No wood stoves match all of these filters.
Remove a filter, or tell us about your room and we'll suggest options.
A wood stove heats a sauna without a big electrical service, which makes it a natural fit for cabins and backyard builds. Size it by room volume, using each maker's rated range, and allow extra for glass, log walls and other cold surfaces. Stone capacity matters too: stoves with a large stone mass, like IKI's, store more heat.
Check how the stove is loaded. Standard stoves load from inside the sauna. Through-wall versions, such as Narvi's Stony Through-Wall and HUUM's HIVE Flow LS, are fed from the next room, which keeps wood and ash out of the hot room. Some models add a built-in water tank or a glass door.
Every stove needs a chimney sized to its flue outlet. Many European sauna stoves have outlets of about 115 mm (4.5 inches), while North American chimneys usually start at 6 inches, so you'll need either a chimney made for the stove or the brand's adapter; our chimney section has both. Keep the manual's clearances to combustibles, and add floor protection, shields or reflectors where it calls for them.
Before the first fire, confirm the installation meets local building code, and talk to your insurer, since many ask for a WETT inspection of wood-burning appliances. Stones are sold separately, and the largest stoves take a few hundred kilograms, so plan delivery and carrying.
Yes. Every wood stove needs a properly sized, properly installed chimney. Choose a kit made for your stove, or use the maker's adapter to connect to a 6-inch chimney system.
WETT-certified professionals inspect wood-burning installations against the manufacturer's instructions and code. Many insurers ask for one before covering a wood stove, so check with yours early.
The firebox extends through the sauna wall, so you add wood from the next room. It keeps the hot room clean and quiet, but the wall opening needs to be built to the manual's requirements.
It varies a lot: from about 30 kg for a compact stove like the Harvia M3 to up to 400 kg for the Löyly-IKI, per IKI. Divide the manual's figure by the box weight and round up.
Yes: some Narvi stoves have a built-in water tank, and Narvi makes a tank that fits its chimney.
