Overview

About the Narvi 30

The Narvi 30 wood-burning sauna stove is built for large saunas where many people bathe at once. Its sturdy casing is painted steel sheet, made for heavy use, and a glass door lets everyone enjoy the glow of the fire. Narvi lists it among its stoves for professional use, such as gyms, hotels and spas, and it suits large private saunas just as well.

Narvi sizes it for saunas of 20–30 m³ (706–1,059 cu ft) and says it also works in rooms up to 35 m³ (1,236 cu ft). It holds 65 kg of 10–15 cm stones and takes firewood up to 50 cm long. Narvi rates its nominal output at 24 kW, and it recommends a sauna at least 2,300 mm (about 7.5 ft) tall for this model.

The stove measures 53.5 × 67 × 95 cm (21.1 × 26.4 × 37.4 in) and weighs 150 kg (331 lb) before stones, so check that the floor can carry it. The 119 mm flue connects at the back with the short pipe supplied, or on top with a separate Narvi pipe. Stones and the chimney are sold separately.

What you need to install it

  • Needs a chimney kit matched to the 119 mm flue outlet, installed to the chimney maker's instructions. Many home insurers ask for a WETT inspection, so book one before the first fire.
  • Narvi's product page lists 300 mm (11.8 in) at the sides and back, 500 mm (19.7 in) in front and 1,250 mm (49.2 in) above; its manual table shows 350 mm (13.8 in) at the sides and back, so plan for the larger figure.
  • At 150 kg (331 lb) before stones, it needs a floor with enough load-bearing capacity. On a wooden or tiled floor, or over in-floor heating, Narvi calls for its installation base plus a metal floor plate reaching 400 mm (15.7 in) in front of the stove.
  • Do the first firing outdoors on a non-combustible surface, as Narvi's manual directs: it burns off protective coatings and sets the paint. Don't make steam that first time.

Stones: Takes 65 kg (143 lb) of 10–15 cm stones. Sold separately.

Narvi 30 questions

How big a sauna can the Narvi 30 heat?

Narvi sizes it for 20–30 m³ (706–1,059 cu ft) and says it's also suitable up to 35 m³ (1,236 cu ft). Add volume for log walls or bare glass, brick or concrete, as Narvi's manual explains.

Is it suitable for commercial use?

Narvi lists the Narvi 30 among its heavy-duty stoves for professional use, such as gyms, hotels and spas. Commercial saunas must meet local fire and building codes, and Narvi's warranty is 1 year for non-home use.

Where does the chimney connect?

At the back, using the short connection pipe that comes with the stove, or on top with a separate Narvi connective flue. The flue outlet is 119 mm.

Is it certified for use in Canada?

Our supplier doesn't list a Canadian (CSA or ULC) certification for this stove, so check with your insurer and WETT inspector before you buy.
