Overview
Löyly-IKI is the wood-burning sauna stove IKI builds for big rooms and keen sauna-goers. A round stainless steel mesh holds up to 400 kg of stones around the furnace, and that huge stone mass keeps the heat steady. IKI says it goes on giving heat even if the fire dies down for a while. Pour water on it and you get long, full steam.
IKI rates it for saunas of 20–40 m³ (705–1,415 cu ft), which suits large family saunas, lodges and shared cottage saunas. It heats in about an hour because the furnace and its heavy-duty spiral fire pipe have about 1 m² of contact with the stones; the pipe glows red as it passes heat to them. IKI's manual puts a full heat-up at 60–75 minutes.
The stove is 102 cm (40.2 in) tall with a 60 cm mesh, and the furnace is 33 cm across and 60 cm deep. It weighs 91 kg (200 lb) before stones, or about 490 kg loaded, so confirm your floor can carry it. The 115 mm flue needs a chimney, sold separately, as are the stones. Like every IKI stove, it's handmade in Finland.

About an hour. IKI's manual puts it at 60–75 minutes for the stones to reach bathing temperature, depending on the room, its ventilation and your wood. IKI suggests starting your sauna at about 55–75 °C and adding water from there.
Stones 5–10 cm across. IKI recommends peridotite, olivine-dolerite or olivine-diabase, and warns against soft or cracked stones. Load them one at a time so they cover the furnace, leaving room for air to move between them.
No. The 115 mm flue outlet needs a chimney sized to it; IKI recommends a brick, ceramic or air-cooled chimney. Many insurers ask for a WETT inspection once it's installed.
Our supplier doesn't list a Canadian (CSA or ULC) certification for this stove, so check with your insurer and WETT inspector before you buy.
