  • Harvia Xenio CX45 Wi-Fi Sauna Control (CX45-U1-U3-XW): Harvia's larger Xenio control kit: a Wi-Fi panel, a power unit rated up to 17 kW at 240 V on two circuits (10.8 kW on one), and a heater sensor. It covers the Cilindro, Spirit and Virta from 8 kW up, plus the Club and the Virta Pro.

Overview

About the Harvia Virta Pro

The Harvia Virta Pro electric sauna heater is the Virta design scaled up for large rooms. Two groups of heating elements share the load, the elements stay apart from the stones for longer life, and a front hatch lets a technician reach the connections or slide out an element module without unloading anything. The 16 kW holds about 90 kg of stones and the 20 kW about 120 kg.

Harvia rates the 16 kW for 354–918 cu ft (10–26 m³) and the 20 kW for 353–1,130 cu ft (10–32 m³). That's spa, hotel, condo-amenity and large-family territory. The body is wide and shallow, about 78 cm wide, 41 cm deep and 84 cm tall (31 × 16 × 33 in), so it sits neatly against a wall.

Electrical planning matters here. The 16 kW runs on 240 V single-phase as two separate circuits. The 20 kW is a 208 V three-phase model for commercial buildings and also needs Harvia's LTY45 power extension. Both need a Harvia Xenio CX45 or Fenix FX45 control, sold separately.

What you need to install it

  • 16 kW: 240 V single-phase on two dedicated circuits (the listing shows two 50 A double-pole breakers). 20 kW: 208 V three-phase on two 30 A three-pole breakers, for commercial buildings.
  • Harvia's control and power unit go in a dry spot outside the hot room, never outdoors or near a shower.
  • Leave at least 50 mm (2 in) around the 16 kW (80 mm / 3.1 in for the 20 kW) and 1,260 mm (49.6 in) to the ceiling.

Control: Needs a Harvia Xenio CX45 or Fenix FX45 control (sold separately); the 20 kW also needs the Harvia LTY45 power extension.

Stones: Holds about 90 kg (198 lb) on the 16 kW and 120 kg (265 lb) on the 20 kW, of 5–10 cm stones. Sold separately.

Wiring and permits

Electric sauna heaters are hard-wired to a dedicated breaker sized in the manual. Have a licensed electrician do the work and get the permit or inspection your province requires. In Ontario that means a Licensed Electrical Contractor, or you in your own home after filing an ESA notification; ask for the ESA Certificate of Acceptance, as your insurer may want it.

Controls for the Harvia Virta Pro

Harvia Virta Pro questions

Which Virta Pro can I use at home?

The 16 kW runs on 240 V single-phase, like most homes, but it needs two separate circuits. The 20 kW is a 208 V three-phase model for commercial buildings.

What extra equipment does the 20 kW need?

A Harvia control (Xenio CX45 or Fenix FX45) plus the Harvia LTY45 power extension. Both are sold separately.

How big a room can it heat?

Harvia rates the 16 kW for 354–918 cu ft (10–26 m³) and the 20 kW for 353–1,130 cu ft (10–32 m³). Glass or masonry walls add to the volume you need to heat.

What stones does it take?

Harvia's manual calls for 5–10 cm sauna stones: about 90 kg for the 16 kW and 120 kg for the 20 kW.
