Overview

About this power extension

Every Harvia control kit has a power unit with a load limit. When a heater is bigger than that limit, the LTY45 carries part of the load. It can't run a heater by itself: the Harvia control still sets the temperature and time, and the LTY45 switches on its command.

Per Harvia's manual, the three-phase version handles up to 15.6 kW at 208 V, through three supply wires between it and the heater, and the 240 V version up to 21 kW with four supply wires. Harvia lists it for use with the Xenio CX30 and CX45 control units, and describes the Fenix FX45 as extendable with it too. Install it outside the hot room, on a dry wall that stays above 0 °C.

The Harvia Virta Pro 20 kW on 208 V three-phase needs the LTY45 alongside a Xenio CX45 control. Three-phase power is normally found in commercial buildings rather than houses, so have your electrician confirm the supply first. In Ontario, the work must be done by a Licensed Electrical Contractor, or by a homeowner in their own home with an ESA notification.

In Ontario, control and heater wiring is a job for a Licensed Electrical Contractor, or for you in your own home after filing an ESA notification (permit).

Questions about this power extension

Can the LTY45 control a heater on its own?

No. Harvia's manual says it always works together with a Harvia control unit. The control does the thinking; the LTY45 carries extra current.

Does the Virta Pro 16 kW need it?

Not with our heaters. We pair the 240 V Virta Pro 16 kW with the Xenio CX45 alone, which Harvia rates at 17 kW on two circuits. The 20 kW three-phase model is the one that needs the LTY45.

Where does it mount?

Outside the hot room, on a dry wall where it stays above 0 °C, per Harvia.
