Overview
About the HUUM STEEL
The HUUM STEEL electric sauna heater fits about 150 kg of small 3–5 cm stones into a square column only 32 cm wide. An air tunnel runs the full height of the heating elements, shielding them from the stones and drawing air through, so the heater comes up to temperature faster. That much stone makes for steady, even heat and plenty of steam.
HUUM rates the 6 kW for 5–9 m³ (177–318 cu ft), the 9 kW for 8–13 m³ (283–460 cu ft) and the 10.5 kW for 10–16 m³ (354–566 cu ft). The safety distances are short (50 mm at the sides on the 6 kW and 100 mm on the larger sizes), so it works where space is tight. It stands 97.5 cm tall on adjustable legs and can be partly sunk into a bench, leaving at least 550 mm above.
The STEEL runs with a HUUM UKU control, Local or Wi-Fi, sold separately. It's hard-wired at 240 V single-phase on a dedicated breaker and fixed to the floor with the supplied brackets.

What you need to install it
- Hard-wired to a dedicated double-pole breaker (30 A for 6 kW, 50 A for 9 and 10.5 kW); your electrician confirms breaker and wire size against the manual.
- Fix it to the floor with the supplied brackets and keep at least 1,200 mm (47.3 in) above it to the ceiling.
Control: Needs a HUUM UKU control, Local or Wi-Fi (sold separately).
Stones: Holds about 150 kg (331 lb) of small 3–5 cm stones. Sold separately.
Wiring and permits
Electric sauna heaters are hard-wired to a dedicated breaker sized in the manual. Have a licensed electrician do the work and get the permit or inspection your province requires. In Ontario that means a Licensed Electrical Contractor, or you in your own home after filing an ESA notification; ask for the ESA Certificate of Acceptance, as your insurer may want it.

HUUM STEEL questions
STEEL or CLIFF?
Both use small 3–5 cm stones and an air tunnel. The STEEL holds about 150 kg in a 32 cm square column; the CLIFF holds about 75 kg in a slimmer 27 cm column with a rougher, stone-faced look.
What breaker and wire does it need?
Per HUUM's US manual: 30 A with 10 AWG for the 6 kW, 50 A with 8 AWG for the 9 and 10.5 kW, at 240 V.
Can I use a Harvia or other-brand control?
No. HUUM heaters work only with HUUM's UKU controls; each brand calibrates its temperature sensor differently and uses different wiring.
Can the STEEL go in an outdoor sauna?
Yes, inside the hot room of an insulated outdoor sauna. Plan where the UKU control and its power unit will be mounted following HUUM's manual, protected from the weather, before the electrician arrives.
