Overview
About the HUUM HIVE Mini
The HUUM HIVE Mini electric sauna heater packs about 150 kg of stones into a round frame just 46 cm across. That's a lot of thermal mass for a home heater, and you'll feel it: the heat is even, the room stays warm between ladles, and water on the stones gives thick, lasting steam. Since 2025 it includes an air tunnel around the elements for faster heating.
HUUM rates the 6 kW for 5–9 m³ (177–318 cu ft), the 9 kW for 8–13 m³ (283–460 cu ft) and the 10.5 kW for 10–16 m³ (354–566 cu ft), covering most home saunas. It stands 75 cm tall on adjustable legs and can be partly sunk into a bench, with at least 350 mm left above the surface. A safety railing, embedding flange and reflectors are available.
The HIVE Mini runs with a HUUM UKU control, Local or Wi-Fi, sold separately; the Wi-Fi version lets you start the sauna from the HUUM app. It's hard-wired at 240 V single-phase on a dedicated breaker, sized by your electrician.

What you need to install it
- Hard-wired to a dedicated double-pole breaker (30 A for 6 kW, 50 A for 9 and 10.5 kW); your electrician confirms breaker and wire size against the manual.
- Keep at least 60–110 mm (2.4–4.3 in) at the sides, by model, and 1,200 mm (47.3 in) above to the ceiling.
Control: Needs a HUUM UKU control, Local or Wi-Fi (sold separately).
Stones: Holds about 150 kg (331 lb) of 5–10 cm stones. Sold separately.
Wiring and permits
Electric sauna heaters are hard-wired to a dedicated breaker sized in the manual. Have a licensed electrician do the work and get the permit or inspection your province requires. In Ontario that means a Licensed Electrical Contractor, or you in your own home after filing an ESA notification; ask for the ESA Certificate of Acceptance, as your insurer may want it.

HUUM HIVE Mini questions
HIVE Mini or DROP: what's the difference?
At similar power, the HIVE Mini holds about 150 kg of stones versus the DROP's 55 kg, so it stores more heat and gives longer, heavier steam. The DROP mounts on the wall; the HIVE Mini stands on the floor.
What breaker and wire does it need?
Per HUUM's US manual: 30 A with 10 AWG for the 6 kW, and 50 A with 6 AWG for the 9 and 10.5 kW, all at 240 V.
How long do 150 kg of stones take to heat?
Longer than a light heater, so plan to preheat before a session. The payoff is steady heat and steam once it's up to temperature.
Can I use a Harvia or other-brand control?
No. HUUM heaters work only with HUUM's UKU controls; each brand calibrates its temperature sensor differently and uses different wiring.
