Overview
About the HUUM DROP
The HUUM DROP electric sauna heater hangs on the wall in a rounded, drop-like shape and carries about 55 kg of stones, more than many heaters twice its footprint. That stone mass is what gives it soft, long-lasting steam when you ladle water. The design earned a Red Dot award in 2015, and the stainless details hold up to daily use.
HUUM rates the four sizes for 3–7 m³ (4.5 kW), 5–9 m³ (6 kW), 7–11 m³ (7.5 kW) and 8–13 m³ (9 kW). That's about 106 to 460 cu ft, which covers most home saunas. Because it's wall-mounted and only 33.5 cm deep, it frees up floor space. Loaded with stones it weighs about 65 kg, so the wall behind it needs to be solid.
The DROP runs with a HUUM UKU control, Local or Wi-Fi, sold separately. It's hard-wired at 240 V single-phase on a dedicated breaker. Options include a safety railing, an embedding flange if you set it into a bench, and a drip tray to keep the floor dry.

What you need to install it
- Hard-wired to a dedicated double-pole breaker (30 A for 4.5 and 6 kW, 40 A for 7.5 kW, 50 A for 9 kW); your electrician confirms breaker and wire size against the manual.
- About 65 kg with stones: mount it on a wall that can carry the load, with at least 1,200 mm (47.3 in) above to the ceiling.
- The power cable enters at the back, so plan its position with the mounting plate before the wall is finished.
Control: Needs a HUUM UKU control, Local or Wi-Fi (sold separately).

Wiring and permits
Electric sauna heaters are hard-wired to a dedicated breaker sized in the manual. Have a licensed electrician do the work and get the permit or inspection your province requires. In Ontario that means a Licensed Electrical Contractor, or you in your own home after filing an ESA notification; ask for the ESA Certificate of Acceptance, as your insurer may want it.

HUUM DROP questions
Which DROP size do I need?
Match your room volume: 4.5 kW for 106–248 cu ft, 6 kW for 177–318, 7.5 kW for 248–389 and 9 kW for 283–460. Add about 3.3 cu ft for each square foot of glass, tile or brick wall.
Can my wall hold it?
The DROP weighs about 65 kg (143 lb) once loaded with stones. Fix it to solid framing or blocking, as HUUM's manual describes.
What breaker and wire does it need?
Per HUUM's US manual: 30 A with 10 AWG for the 4.5 and 6 kW, 40 A with 8 AWG for the 7.5 kW and 50 A with 8 AWG for the 9 kW, at 240 V.
Can I use a Harvia or other-brand control?
No. HUUM heaters work only with HUUM's UKU controls; each brand calibrates its temperature sensor differently and uses different wiring.
