About the Harvia The Wall

Harvia The Wall electric sauna heater keeps things simple and slim. The illuminated switches on the heater set the temperature and the timer, including a delayed start, so there's no separate control panel to buy or mount. Long heating elements spread the heat along the unit, and the open build lets air move freely through about 20 kg of stones.

Harvia's manual rates the 6 kW for 177–294 cu ft (5–8.3 m³) and the 8 kW for 177–431 cu ft (5–12.2 m³), which covers most home and cottage saunas. At about 26 cm deep (10.2 in), it takes little space from the benches. You can install it left- or right-handed, and Harvia's wall rack makes hanging it quick.

The Wall is hard-wired at 240 V single-phase on a dedicated breaker: 30 A for the 6 kW and 40 A for the 8 kW, per the listing, with 10 or 8 AWG copper. As with any electric sauna heater in Ontario, have a Licensed Electrical Contractor do the hook-up, or file an ESA notification first if you're wiring your own home.

What you need to install it

Hard-wired to a dedicated double-pole breaker (30 A for 6 kW, 40 A for 8 kW); your electrician confirms breaker and wire size against the manual.
Harvia's manual lists a minimum room height of 75 in (1,900 mm).

Control: Built-in controls on the heater, so no separate control is needed.

Stones: Holds about 20 kg (44 lb) of 5–10 cm stones. Sold separately.

Wiring and permits

Electric sauna heaters are hard-wired to a dedicated breaker sized in the manual. Have a licensed electrician do the work and get the permit or inspection your province requires. In Ontario that means a Licensed Electrical Contractor, or you in your own home after filing an ESA notification; ask for the ESA Certificate of Acceptance, as your insurer may want it.

Do I need a separate control?

No. Temperature, timer and delayed start are set with the illuminated switches on the heater itself.

What room size suits each model?

Harvia's manual rates the 6 kW for 177–294 cu ft and the 8 kW for 177–431 cu ft. Add about 1.2 m³ (42 cu ft) for each square metre of glass or bare masonry.

Can I mount it on either side of the room?

Yes. The Wall can be installed left- or right-handed, so you can place it where it best suits your door and bench layout.
