Homecraft Apex Electric Sauna Heater Sizes: 12 kW Overview
For a shared or commercial sauna, remote access saves a trip to the room. The TKE2-3 Wi-Fi pairs Homecraft's Wi-Fi touchpad with a three-phase contactor box. Per Homecraft, the app lets you preheat remotely, set automatic schedules and see the current temperature and session time, while the wall touchpad works as usual, up to 90 °C.
The contactor box is built around a 50 A contactor, an integrated relay board and a 24 V transformer, and Homecraft rates it for its 208 V three-phase heaters up to 15 kW. It installs outside the sauna room and links to the touchpad with low-voltage cable. Pick the indoor setup for a utility room, or the outdoor setup, in a weatherproof enclosure, for an exterior wall.
We match it to the Homecraft Apex 12 kW on 208 V three-phase. For the Apex 18 kW, Homecraft calls for the TKE3. Plan commercial wiring with a Licensed Electrical Contractor; Homecraft's warranty also requires a licensed electrician for the heater hookup.
In Ontario, control and heater wiring is a job for a Licensed Electrical Contractor, or for you in your own home after filing an ESA notification (permit).
Rarely. 208 V three-phase is typical of commercial and multi-unit buildings. Most homes have 240 V single-phase service, which uses the TKE2-2 or TKE3.
Yes. Homecraft says the Wi-Fi touchpad supports automatic preheat scheduling as well as remote start and monitoring.
No. Homecraft says the Apex 18 kW on 208 V needs the TKE3, which has a 75 A contactor. The TKE2-3 covers 208 V heaters up to 15 kW.
