Short answer

In our September 2026 survey of Ontario sellers’ published prices, outdoor saunas started from about $6,700 for a small Luna or barrel to about $14,700 for a larger A-frame. Those figures are in Canadian dollars, before tax, with a heater included. Style, size and extras decide where your sauna lands.

How we worked out these prices

On 30 September 2026 we reviewed 365 published prices from 15 sellers. On 4 October 2026 we rechecked every price we average (none had changed) and added one more Ontario retailer, for 435 prices from 16 sellers, all of them Canadian. For the averages, we used each Ontario seller’s least expensive standard model at each size: 131 starting prices from 13 sellers. We left out upgraded versions (porches, change rooms, panoramic glass, clear cedar), designer and insulated models, and imported thermowood lines. We checked big-box listings but didn’t average them.

About half the listings priced the sauna without a heater. To compare like with like, we added that seller’s own least expensive electric-heater option, or $1,375 (about the middle of the heater prices we saw) when a seller didn’t list one.

Our “starting at” price for each size is that survey average, rounded.

A few sizes had only three or four sellers: the two smallest Lunas, the smallest cabin and both A-frames. Treat those averages as a rough guide.

Why prices vary so much

  • Two price bands. For barrels, Lunas and cubes, saunas from one large Ontario manufacturer, sold through a network of dealers, ran about $2,000 to $6,000 more than local builders’ saunas of the same size. Cabins were the exception. The averages sit between the two groups.
  • Who sells each size. The dealer-network models weren’t offered as 12 ft barrels, so the 12 ft average is only about $200 above the 10 ft average. Sellers who offer both sizes charge roughly $750 to $1,100 more for 12 ft. The same effect explains part of the jump between the 7 × 6 and 8 × 6 ft Lunas.

What’s usually included

  • Heater: about 4 in 10 listings included one, about half didn’t, and the rest didn’t say.
  • Stones, bucket and ladle: included by some sellers; many don’t say.
  • Delivery and assembly: only 2 of the 14 sellers we reviewed included both in the price. The rest charged roughly $450 to $1,195, quoted it separately, or sold kits.
  • Glass and lighting: barrels usually come with a glass-window door, and Luna and cube listings usually show a glass front or glass door. Lighting is usually an add-on.

Our starting prices include the sauna with its heater, sauna stones, and a bucket and ladle. Delivery and assembly are quoted to your address, and we deliver anywhere in Canada.

What adds to the price

  • Size and seating. Longer barrels and larger footprints cost more.
  • Wood species and grade. Clear (knot-free) cedar is usually sold as an upgrade, and the species changes the price too.
  • Glass. Panoramic ends, glass fronts and extra windows add cost, and they can call for a bigger heater. See our heater size guide.
  • A porch or change room.
  • Heater choice. Wood or electric, a larger kW, or a Wi-Fi control.
  • Roof finish, lighting and interior upgrades.
  • Delivery and site access. Distance, narrow side yards and crane lifts.
  • Assembly or installation.

Budget for more than the sticker price

  • Sales tax: 13% HST in Ontario, so an 8 ft barrel at $8,895 costs $10,051.35 with tax. In other provinces, the rate depends on where the sauna is delivered.
  • Delivery and assembly: quoted to your address.
  • Electrical work: an electric heater needs a dedicated circuit, installed by a licensed electrician or by you with an ESA notification. See our electrical checklist.
  • A base: level and well drained: compacted gravel with pavers, a concrete pad, or a deck built to carry the sauna’s weight.
  • Permits: Ontario’s Building Code Act treats a structure over 10 m² (about 107 sq ft), or any size with plumbing, as a building that needs a permit. Our site prep guide covers this.
  • Wood stove extras: a chimney kit if it isn’t included, and a WETT inspection if your insurer asks for one.

Questions to ask when you compare quotes

  • Is a heater included? Which model and kW, and does it need a separate control?
  • Are stones, a bucket and a ladle included?
  • Is delivery included? To where, and is it left at the curb or placed on your base?
  • Is assembly included, and who connects the electrical?
  • Which wood species and grade, and is the sauna insulated?
  • What’s the lead time, and when do you pay?

Two quotes with the same headline price can differ by thousands once these answers are in.

How we price

Our “starting at” prices name exactly what’s included: the sauna with its heater, sauna stones, and a bucket and ladle. Photos may show optional upgrades. Delivery and assembly depend on your address and site, so we quote them for you, and every quote lists the sauna, heater, options, delivery, assembly and tax line by line. You pay nothing until you approve the written quote. Then a 40% deposit starts production, the balance is due before delivery, and the lead time is 4–6 weeks from the deposit. How ordering works explains each step.

Common questions

How much does an outdoor sauna cost in Toronto and the GTA?

In our September 2026 survey of Ontario sellers' published prices, average starting prices ran from about $6,700 for a small Luna or barrel to about $14,700 for a larger A-frame, in CAD before tax with a heater included. Size, style, glass and extras move the price up from there.

Do outdoor sauna prices include tax?

Most published prices, including ours, are before tax. In Ontario, 13% HST is added, so an $8,895 sauna costs $10,051.35 with HST. In other provinces, the tax depends on where the sauna is delivered, and your quote shows it.

Is delivery and assembly included in outdoor sauna prices?

Usually not. Only 2 of the 14 sellers we reviewed included delivery and assembly in the price; the rest charged roughly $450 to $1,195 or quoted it separately. We quote delivery and assembly to your address, anywhere in Canada, and your quote shows the cost before you pay anything.

What's the least expensive outdoor sauna style?

In our survey, the smallest barrels and Lunas had the lowest average starting prices, each under $6,800 with a heater. The smallest cabins started at about $7,400, and cubes and A-frames higher still, from about $10,000 and $12,000.
